I can hear the understeer, and smell the burning oil, as  das Audi fanboys  career towards my house. Hold your horses; I am not saying it’s a bad car, not by any stretch. That sonorous V10, smooth ride, fabulous interior and staggering accessibility – even Pastor Maldonado could get it cleanly around a circuit – all count heavily in its favour.  Why so little love for the Coupe, then? As an everyday supercar, it excels. It is extremely proficient, refined and disciplined. It is also, as a result, terrifically  safe  and somewhat aloof .  Consequently, those looking for heart-trembling excitement may find it lacking. McLaren 540C (2017) review car news2017 ► McLaren 540C review ► It's the cheapest McLaren yet ► Full UK road test, specs  The 540C is McLaren’s least expensive car. As such there’s much that’s missing. It lacks the 650S’s Proactive Chassis Control, which replaces mechanical anti-roll bars (and their intrinsic compromise) with interlinked hydraulics for a plush ride with circuit-ready body control. A simpler kind of McLaren The 540C also uses iron brake discs rather than carbon-ceramics, and four-piston front calipers as opposed to the 570S’s six-piston units. It obviously also goes without the hybrid powertrains of either the P1 or McLaren’s MP4-31 F1 car (a relief in the case of the latter), and at 533bhp, 398lb ft and 199mph is down 29bhp, 45lb ft and 5mph on the £143,250 570S.   Cadillac introduces a new compact luxury sedan for 2020, the CT4. Adorned with uncluttered styling, it fills the slot in the lineup that was vacated when the ATS was discontinued. Few details on the base model are available as of this writing, but we do know it will be rear drive with all-wheel-drive available, and come powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Cadillac has, however, released preliminary information on the sporty CT4-V model, which will feature a 2.7-liter turbocharged engine with an estimated 320 horsepower, a near perfect 50/50 front to rear weight ratio, grippy Brembo brakes, and precise handling abilities. Available features include Cadillac’s semi-autonomous Super Cruise system that allows hands-free highway driving.
